YXLP · Buyer brief
Modal Private Label Underwear
Private-label buyers ask for modal because of hand feel. YXLP can sample a men's underwear program against that request. Modal in a catalog title, including the soft-modal listing already on this site, is not a fiber certificate and not a promise that every color uses the same cloth.
Who this brief is for
DTC brands
You are positioning a softer everyday brief or boxer brief. You still need composition text your market allows.
Retailers
You want one hand feel across a small color story, plus a waistband and a pack that match the brand manual.
Subscription services
You need the approved fabric identified well enough that the next replenishment can be checked against it.
Decisions to make before you compare quotes
A modal private-label brief has to separate hand feel, actual fiber, branding and the garment cut.
| Decision | What to record |
|---|---|
| Hand feel | A swatch or a reference garment, not only the word modal |
| Composition | Fiber content of the cloth proposed for sampling |
| Cut | Boxer brief, trunk or brief, with measurements |
| Brand | Waistband method, labels and hangtag or bag |
| Wash | Shrinkage and surface appearance after the agreed cycle |
Sampling path
Step 1
Start from the reviewed modal reference or your own garment
The short-leg boxer brief with a dark waistband is a style reference. Its historical name says modal. Ask the factory what fiber it would actually propose.
Step 2
Do not borrow unrelated marketing names
Words such as ice silk on other listings are marketing labels. They are not a substitute for a modal composition, and they are not interchangeable with it.
Step 3
Approve branding on the same sample path
Private label adds the waistband, the fiber and care text, and the pack. A body sample without those pieces does not approve them.

Short-leg boxer brief with a logo-band concept
Modal remains a catalog word until the fabric is confirmed.
Men's brief with a wide sample waistband
A different cut. Use it only if you are briefing a brief, not a boxer brief.
Black boxer brief with red and grey trim
Modal in the old title is unconfirmed. The photo does not show a logo.

Questions buyers ask
Can you make private-label underwear in modal?
Send the hand feel you want and ask which fiber composition can be sampled. YXLP confirms the cloth for that order. A product URL that contains the word modal is not a composition.
What else has to be ready besides the fabric?
Your logo artwork, label text, size chart, pack format and destination. Private label is the garment plus the brand components.
Is a softer catalog photo evidence of modal?
No. Hand feel is judged on a swatch or a sample of the proposed fabric, not on a picture.
