Customizing underwear for a brand starts with a product brief that a supplier can quote and sample against. Define the wearer, intended use, fit, target market and channel before choosing fabric, colors or packaging.
Turn the brand concept into a specification
Collect references for the silhouette, rise, leg length, pouch construction, waistband and stitching. Add a size chart with measurement points and tolerances. Identify the fabric composition, color standard, trims and any label or packaging artwork that is already decided.
Compare suppliers and quotations
Ask each supplier to confirm which details are included in the quote: fabric and trim choices, size range, logo application, packaging, sample charges, order quantity, production timing and inspection steps. Quantities, prices and timing depend on the final specification, so compare like-for-like offers and put agreed terms in writing.
Review samples in stages
- Check the first sample against the brief, including measurements, fit, seams and materials.
- Record requested changes with marked photos and a dated revision list.
- Wash-test the approved fabric and finished garment using the care method planned for the product.
- Approve the final sample and production details in writing before bulk production.
Keep one approved reference sample and the final specification together. This gives the buyer and supplier a shared reference for labels, packaging, quality checks and any repeat order.
