Executive Summary

Check a Chinese underwear supplier’s registered identity, map the parties to an order and verify the proposed production site before committing.

A China-based sales contact, registered company and sewing site may be different parties. Before ordering men’s underwear, identify each party and verify the proposed production arrangement for your specific style. A city’s reputation or a business license cannot establish who will make your order.

Check the registered identity

Ask the supplier for its full Chinese legal name (中文法定名称) and Unified Social Credit Code (统一社会信用代码) as shown on its business license. Search both in China’s National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System and compare the displayed registered entity, code, registered address and business scope with the documents supplied. The Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation FAQ (questions 24 and 29) explains the code and the national registration database; the EU IP Helpdesk guide explains how buyers can search basic Chinese company information.

Save the search result and date alongside the license copy. Registration data helps identify a legal entity; it does not prove that the company owns a factory, has the claimed equipment or workforce, or can produce your underwear to specification.

Map the parties and the physical site

Ask for a written account naming the entity that will produce the goods, the entity signing the contract, the exporter of record and the entity receiving payment. Record the actual production address separately from any registered office or sales address. If these names or addresses differ, ask for the relationship between the parties and check that the quotation, contract, invoice, export documents and payment instructions consistently identify their roles before paying.

Verify this order’s production route

  1. Send a style brief covering fabric, construction, size range, labels, packaging and destination market. Ask for a sample made to the proposed specifications and record deviations.
  2. Arrange a site visit or independent verification of the stated production address and relevant processes. Confirm where cutting, sewing, finishing and inspection for this order would occur, including any subcontracting.
  3. Keep the approved sample, measurement tolerances and inspection criteria with the purchase order. State the producing and contracting entities, substitution approval, quantity, price, timing, payment details and remedies in the order documents.

If a supplier cannot reconcile the registration, production site and order parties, pause until the discrepancy is explained and documented.
